Indo Ceylon Traveling Post office (ICTPO)

Indo-Ceylon Traveling Post Office was started in 1914 to exchange the Mail speedily.

A train was assigned for passengers and postal transport between Colombo and Madras. From Colombo to Thalai Mannar by train, Thalai Mannar to Dhanushkody by boat and Dhanushkody to Madras again by train.

Air Mails delivered by the Indo - Ceylon Traveling Post office was transported by land and sea to Madras, from there to Karachchi by air and from Karachchi by air to London.

By this, it was possible to send a letter from Colombo to London in 15 days.
